Datuna (David) Alavidze

A.K.A. "Frodo", in honour of J.R.R. Tolkien's hobbit from The Lord of the Rings.
On account of a wickedly refined sense of humour and a character built in equal parts stubborn, brave, driven and an absolute fighter.

Many years later, sketchbook in hand, charcoal smudged permanently under his fingernails, Datuna would remember that distant afternoon when his father first marched him up to Altihut to discover the glacier. He was thirteen. It wasn't ice he clapped eyes on for the first time in his life, mind you, but an entire glacier. Though at the time, it never once occurred to him that he'd want to come back.

Years rolled by. He decided to become an artist. Not just any artist, a great one, thank you very much; and he picked, of all things, the hardest medium going - charcoal. No layers to hide behind, no undo button, just black dust and a steady hand. He worked relentlessly at it, turning every wall of his house into a mural along the way.

And just as life was about to hand him its next challenge, fresh walls to conquer, a journey abroad to study he rediscovered Altihut.
This time round, with proper purpose, and a rather overdue discovery of the Altihut Spirit, carrying impressions far too big to carry lightly.
He became a true Altihut local: an utterly inseparable member of the team keeping watch over the mountain above 3,000+ m a.s.l.

Like Frodo, stubborn, brave, driven hobbits always find their way back to the mountain. Every time.
