Day 01 - Meet the Guide
Kick things off at the trailhead in Gergeti (2,200 masl) with a quick briefing and some friendly instructions. Then, hit the trail! It’s a 5 km hike to AltiHut, taking about 3.5 hours and climbing a vertical 800 meters. Once you arrive, it’s time to acclimatize, rest, and indulge in a delicious lunch featuring local delicacies. If you’re feeling adventurous, join a short tour to the Glacier (around 3,200 masl) before dinner at the “Restaurant on 3,000 meters.” Sweet dreams await you on comfy organic woolen mattresses, crafted with love by IDPs from the Tskhinvali region.
Day 02 - Fuel Up!
Start your day with a champion’s breakfast, then lace up for a hike to Arsha Pass. Enjoy jaw-dropping views of Sno Valley, the Chaukhi Mountains, Stepantsminda, and Truso Valley before making your way back to Altihut for another cozy night among the peaks. (3-4 hours of hiking with 600m elevation gain/loss + lots of lost calories).
Day 03 - The Big Day!
Brace yourself for the longest day of the tour, starting with another hearty breakfast. After a pre-tour briefing and gear check, set off toward the Glacier. This thrilling glacier walk (crevasses, Ortsveri ice face, oh my!) will take around 4 hours. After returning to Altihut for some well-deserved rest and lunch, you’ll trek back to Gergeti village with your trusty guide. Get ready for a 7-hour journey with 500m up and 1,200m down; who needs a gym?
